The May update for Brawl Stars is just around the corner, coming with exciting new features such as a Brawl Pass (Brawl Stars’s battle pass) and a new Brawler rarity. However, they are also removing Event Tickets from the game. So that begs the question, should you save your tickets or spend them all in the last ticketed event (Robo Rumble)?
Ticket Conversion Rate
As of today, Brawl Stars has finally announced what leftover tickets will be converted to. For every 10 tickets you have when the update drops, you will receive 1 gem as compensation. This means that if you have 100 tickets when the update drops, you will lose those tickets and get 10 gems added to your account. Whether gems round up or down is unknown, but it’s only a matter of ±1 gem anyways.
Spend or Save?
In order to answer this question, we need to preform some calculations. Previously, purchasing Tickets using Gems would give you 60 Tickets for 80 Gems (for the best value pack). In other words, each Ticket would cost 1.33 Gems. Multiply this by ten and you get 13.33 Gems. Of course, the update’s Ticket-to-Gem conversion rate is more than 10x lower than this, but this comparison isn’t necessarily the whole story. After all, you’re supposed to use Gems to purchase Tickets, not the other way around.
Since the only ticketed event before the update left is Robo Rumble, we will use that event for calculations. Assuming each Ticket gets you 20 Tokens (which is relatively easy to get), 100 Tickets gets you 2000 Tokens/20 Brawl Boxes. Assuming that you don’t get any Power Points from a Brawl Box and that each box gives 30 Coins, 20 Brawl Boxes gets you 600 Coins. In the Brawl Stars Shop, 600 Coins is 70 Gems (with the 1200 Coins pack). If the 100 Tickets you had was saved instead, you would get 10 Gems. Once again, it is clear that spending your Tickets is much more valuable than saving them.
On the other hand, there is an argument to be made about saving Tickets. For one, although it is technically more worth to spend the Tickets to get Tokens, no amount of Coins will get you a single Gem. So even though you could get thousands of Coins using up your Tickets, you won’t get that any Gems from them. Of course, you could get some Gems from Brawl Boxes (9% chance of getting Gems), but even if you get 3 Gems every 10 boxes, 20 boxes – 100 Tickets worth of Boxes – would only get you 6 Gems instead of the converted 10. You would need to average 5 or more Gems every 10 boxes to equal how many you would receive if you save your Tickets, which is rather unlikely.
Another argument is that spending Tickets is very time-consuming. Many players have hundreds of Tickets saved up, some even have thousands. It would take multiple hours to use up all the Tickets, even by spending 20 Tickets every game. Some people just don’t have the time or patience (it can get boring rather quickly) to use all their Tickets.
So should you spend or save your Event Tickets? Really, it all comes down to what you want. If you don’t have that much time or patience for hours of Robo Rumble, you should probably save your Tickets. If you want some more Gems as opposed to Coins, you should also save your Tickets. However, if you are looking to get some Power Points and Coins and you don’t mind the grind, you should definitely spend your Tickets before the update to get the most value out of them.
Regardless of what you decide to do with your Event Tickets, the next update is going to be a big and exciting one.
